  1. I think this seems to be a great program for parents and students. However, I don't think a lot of teachers would take the time to write detailed comments for every single student they have. If some teachers don't give helpful comments, then a computerized letter grade might be a better solution.

The controversial matter about letter grades is that some parents/teachers may take them too seriously on kids and that's why students tend to be more focused on grades rather than the real learnings. It is important that we don't judge the letter grade system on what we see on the surface and just take it away entirely since there are still pros. to it, such as it gives a more general idea of how the student is doing. Yet, slowly washing away the idea of "grades tell what kind of a student you are" would be the main goal behind what the Surrey School District and many other parts in the edcation world is aiming for.
